FAMILY-RUN OIL DISTRIBUTOR OIL 4 WALES EXPANDS INTO MID WALES WITH ACQUISITION OF POWYS BUSINESS
Oil 4 Wales will take on Powys Petroleum’s two depots in Newtown and Shropshire, five staff and nine tankers
Oil 4 Wales is expanding its presence in Powys by purchasing Powys Petroleum.
The family-run oil distribution company, set up by Colin Owens in 2010, revealed it has bought the fuel company for an undisclosed sum.
As part of the acquisition, Oil 4 Wales will take on the company’s two depots in Newtown and Shropshire, five staff and nine tankers from the former company.
This is the latest move by the company to expand its services in Mid Wales, having opened a 300,000 litre depot in Three Cocks, Brecon in September.
The acquisition sees Oil 4 Wales increase its customer base from 39,000 to 50,000 and the total literage of its eight depots in Blaenau Ffestiniog, Brecon, Cardiff, Carmarthen, Felinfach, Milford Haven, Newtown and Shropshire to 3,300,000.
Oil 4 Wales also now has 35 tankers throughout Wales
Colin Owens, managing director of Oil 4 Wales, said: “We have always said that our aim is to create a truly Welsh brand that can provide an excellent and cost effective service for all the communities in Wales.
“By purchasing Powys Petroleum, we will be able to serve the Powys community more efficiently. Furthermore, Powys Petroleum has built an excellent customer base in Powys so we’re looking forward to welcoming these customers to the Oil 4 Wales family.”
Since it was founded by Mr Owens in 2010, Oil 4 Wales has been well supported by those keen to see the success of a truly independent Welsh oil brand.
It supplies a range of fuel services to homes, businesses, commercial premises, agricultural and retail customers and hosts community events across the country alongside its brand ambassadors, rugby players Dan Biggar, Ken Owens, Dan Lydiate and Scott Quinnell.
It is the only Welsh oil distributor to have its fuel accredited by the FPS (Federation of Petroleum Suppliers) and is one of 18 Welsh companies included in the London Stock Exchange’s 1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain.
